Ice Cream and a Day to Remember at Falls of Bellaire
After a long week, the kids at the Falls of Bellaire Resource Center got together for memories and ice cream. We had about 15 kids spend the afternoon with us. It was a wonderful opportunity to open up, share, and have fun. However, there was a very important reason for the gathering, to learn about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.
After watching a short documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement, the kids discussed diversity, classes at school, and what they've experienced. One of the kids asked her grandfather to join the group and he shared his memories of the civil rights movement and how much things had changed. Then they shared ideas about what still needed to change. It was a great discussion and it was topped off with a round of ice cream for everyone. A memorable day to remember a great man!
