National Night Out Brings Our Communities Together
Tuesday was National Night Out. The event happens for the rest of the nation in August, but Texas and Florida have the option to move it to October because of our giant oven like weather. The National Night Out was originally intended to improve the reach of programs like Community Watch Programs and other anti-crime initiatives.
Apartments Are Communities' two resource centers also participated in the National Night Out organizing an event for their community. It was an opportunity to bring neighbors out and learn that the people beside them aren't just fellow residents or neighbors, but community.
The Linda Vista Resource Center
Our brand new Linda Vista Resident Coordinator, Marissa Baltrip, jumped right in and organized a great event. They had a great turnout with food, music, and games. There was a bouncy castle for the kids and gathering areas for people to just sit and talk. The event lasted well past sunset and everyone was reluctant to leave. Marissa took the opportunity to the spread the word about the up coming Job Fair. The Linda Vista Resource Center is going to be very busy and that's a great thing!
The Falls of Bellaire Resource Center
Not to be out done, our other Resource Center also arranged a great event. They had food, music, game, vendors, and even, a moonwalk. Ms. P and Ms Rosie organized a great group of volunteers who made the event a huge success turning out over a hundred residents. The residents enjoyed the games and the chance to wind down after a busy day with their neighbors. The community really came together and it was fantastic to see. Ms. P made sure everyone knew what the busy schedule for the Fall Season will be. After the Grand Re-Opening in June, it's been busy at the Center and we could not be prouder of how well they have done.
