State of Black Houston 2015

Last night, Texans Together were  at the Talento Bilingüe de Houston for the State of Black Houston.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Houston Justice Coalition, Houston-Area Urban League and NAACP Houston hosted a candid discussion with prominent Houstonians regarding the state of Black Houston in 2015.

We discussed a myriad of topics including criminal justice reform, understanding the modern Black family model, navigating the local political arena, the economic health of the Black community and our image in the media with the purpose to move closer toward victory as a people in the greatest city in the world. It also served as a unique opportunity to recruit participants for Texans Together Empower Houston's Leaders course.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event.

Durrel Douglas, who gave the State of Black Houston address, was on Houston Public Media to promote the event: Durrel Douglas Interview Audio and/or Article.
